The WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines is the world’s leading intermediate wine qualification for anyone wishing to develop a solid and structured understanding of wine. Suitable for both wine professionals and wine enthusiasts, it provides a comprehensive overview of the world’s key grape varieties, major wine regions and wine styles, offering the ideal balance between technical knowledge and accessibility.
As the most widely attended wine qualification in the world, it is the perfect next step for anyone ready to move beyond the basics without yet taking on the more demanding workload of the WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines.
Why choose the WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines?
You can enrol directly in the WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines without having completed Level 1. The two qualifications are designed for different purposes: Level 1 provides an essential introduction to wine, while Level 2 explores wine production, key grape varieties and wine styles in much greater depth, while still building on fundamental concepts.
What you will learn
During the course you will explore:
- the fundamentals of viticulture and winemaking;
- the world’s key international grape varieties and their characteristics;
- the major wine-producing regions;
- the main wine styles and the factors that influence them;
- the principles of food and wine pairing.
A central part of the course is learning the WSET® Systematic Approach to Tasting® (SAT) through the guided tasting of approximately 40 carefully selected wines.
